A beach trip is my favorite kind of vacation because each day there are only two important choices to make; what to wear and where to sit. During an eight-day driving trip from Austin, Texas to Amelia Island, Florida I had so much fun soaking up the sand and sun, all the while feeling styled and confident. Here are a few of my favorite looks and pro styling tips to keep in mind for your next trip to the beach!
Our first stop was for one night in New Orleans, Louisiana where we enjoyed a little break from the car and some delicious gumbo. For dinner I chose light colored espadrilles with a flowy cotton dress that could later be used as a cover up. Pro tip: When packing look for ways to wear items multiple ways on your trip.
Once in Florida I was ready to hit the beach! For our first day in the sun, I wore this bright and cheery printed swimsuit, paired it with white knit shorts and an oversized button down. I purchased these flesh tone flats for "my go with everything" beach sandals. My only request is that they come out with a “jellies” version so they would be truly waterproof. Pro tip: Keep your beach look styled by adding water friendly accessories like these plastic bangles, light weight hoops and sunglasses.

For this trip my dinner style uniform consisted of light flowy dresses, elevated sandals, and small basket bags. Here's a look I absolutely loved for our first dinner at the resort, one I know I will wear again and again even back in Austin. Pro tip: If you are buying new clothes for vacation, make sure you can wear the items again when you’re back home.

After three days in the sun my skin was ready for a break, so I decided to wear this white button down paired with the same knit shorts from our first day at the beach. I love these shorts because of how versatile and elevated they are. I could wear these other than just as a coverup. Pro tip: For swimsuit coverups, have at least one that can double for a day not at the beach in case your plans change.
After five days in Florida, we headed back west and stayed two nights in Alabama. While at the pool I wore this classic striped one piece and paired it with a simple black cotton gauzy dress and raffia slides. Pro tip: When spending consecutive days in a swimsuit, save your highest coverage one for the last day so your different tan lines will show less if at all.
Here are a few other looks I wore during our trip to the beach, and I hope they inspire you the next time you hit the beach. I feel that no matter where you are or what you’re doing, you deserve to look and feel your best! For some though the thought of packing is overwhelming, and they feel stressed about what to wear. If that describes you, I am here to help! Book a session today and I will be happy to create a vacation wardrobe that’s right for you, making packing and getting dressed while on vacation a breeze! Look good, feel good, even while at the beach!
